Some good information here: http://www.originalprop.com/blog/movie-guns/star-wars-episode-iv-a-new-hope/

Below is an example of one of the blasters which lacks the cylinders on top of the mag well, the Hengstler counter box, and adjoining wires:

Any thoughts on the placement of my scope? Should it be moved toward the rear a little?

Which scope position looks more accurate?

I decided to move the scope back 3/4" after looking at a few more pictures of blasters from the movie. Here are some updated photos.

This is what I used for the t-tracks: (Click on the link below)

Screen Tight 1-1/2 in. Porch Screening System Cap White Color

The section is not a conventional "T", but you really can't tell when it's assembled. I cut them 1/2" wide, 1/4" on either side of one of the raised extrusions. Even though there are two extrusions, only one side will be usable after cutting. You could cut enough for two blasters from one piece and it was only $3.75. I rigged a Dremel with a cutoff wheel in a fixture with a guide rail to make a nice, clean cut. The material bends easily enough when heated carefully. I made a jig with a 60 degree angle and got the perfect bend angle every time. Trim and sand to fit, glue in place.

Notice in the photo above, I shortened the length of the magazine. It seems to be a more screen accurate length. Any opinions?

I agree. It looks closer to the movie pic. It all looks good though.

Well, my first attempt at building an E-11 blaster is all done except for final paint. I elected not to use the counter box and targeting sensors, as some of the screen versions in ANH did not have them. It is now on loan to a friend of mine (the guy who made my scope) who also wants to build a blaster for himself. I will post pictures of the blaster when final paint is applied. in the meantime, I have started on my second blaster. It will have more refined detail, a working trigger assembly, and (if I can figure it out, lights and sound. Big IF...

I will start another thread for that one.

My wife, the lovely Mrs. trooper96, models the completed blaster, along with a pepakura stormtrooper helmet a friend of mine is making. The helmet is still in the early stages of puttying and smoothing.

Super nice! I'm getting ready to start cutting out an E-11 shortly. Hope it looks as good as this one.

Thanks, Rothgar68. If your Rebel blaster is any indication, your E11 should turn out just fine. If I can answer any questions or offer any assistance, please feel free to ask. You and I and maybe a few others seem to be the only ones scratch building blasters. The FISD board is flooded with resin blasters, but very few scratch builds.

I have made CAD files of some of the template pictures if any of that would be helpful, and of course the 3D model. Please consider any of my resources at your disposal.
