I had so much fun building my first E-11, I have started on a second one, a hopefully more refined version. The first was a great learning experience, and I learned some do's and don'ts about working with the materials. Even though I hacked my way through it, it turned out much better than I thought it would. It had a functional folding stock and charging handle. Here is a picture of my first attempt, less final paint (primer only):

On this version, I hope to have a little more refined detail, a working trigger assembly, Hengstler counter, targeting sensors, and (if I can figure it out... big IF) lights and sound. I have just started cutting parts. Here is what I have so far:

Muzzle
Front sight guard
Front sight post
Blowback shields
Trigger
Trigger guard
Selector switch
Right grip panel
T-tracks

Click HERE to see the material I used to make these parts.

Very pleased with the better detail on the muzzle.

I will be using 1-1/4" gray PVC electrical conduit (1.660" OD, 1.380" ID) for the main tube and 1" gray PVC electrical conduit (1.315" OD, 1.049 ID) for the bolt assembly.

I am using the templates from this forum, plus some other details I found on FISD.

Very cool! That is a ridiculous amount of detail!

Grip assembly nearly done.

Functional trigger?

Yes!

I will install a spring to return the trigger to ready position.

I would like to use a momentary switch on the trigger to "fire" the weapon. What would be better, a bright LED, or a laser mounted in the barrel? I am really intrigued by some of the tutorials out there about constructing a "burning laser". They can pop balloons and set matches on fire. Really cool, but also very dangerous to the eyes. Probably not. I may opt for a red or green 5mw laser if I go that route.

I just found this...

Click HERE - Instructables: Make An LED Blaster

I think I'm in way over my head with the electronics. I'm a mechanical guy and don't remember too much from my electrical engineering classes. I'll have to study a little and try to make sense of it.

Since last time, I made the rear sight housing, the main tube, and started assembling a few parts:

End cap cut to length, t-tracks shaped and fitted, grip and tracks assembled (dry fit) just to see how it all looks so far. Not glued in place yet.

I could use some good machinery. Having only a Dremel tool, cordless drill/driver, and sandpaper makes this a very challenging project. I'll have to get my friend to turn another scope for me and do a few other things.

Added trigger spring mechanism. I used a control horn and servo rod/clevis form my RC plane spare parts. The spring is from an ink pen. It offers good resistance and reliably returns the trigger to the ready position every time. I will also use the control horn to actuate a momentary switch for the LED's, laser, and maybe sound. MAYBE...

Also, I had to cut a 7/16" diameter slot in the bottom of the main tube to accommodate the trigger mechanism. I will attach a photo later.

A little more progress. Grip has been shaped, trigger guard added, miscellaneous small fixes.

I made the grip assembly removable. 1/4"-20 hex nut embedded in grip, 1/4"-20 x 1/2" socket head cap screw through hole on bottom of main tube, small access hole in top of tube to turn screw. added a strip of flashing to the main tube at both sides of grip assembly above trigger to hide small gap and to secure front of grip assembly in plave. This will be sanded down so that it looks like a weld between the tube and grip assembly.

Yet to do:
Magazine well

Folding stock
Scope rail
Scope
Hengstler counter
Targeting sensors
Gap filling
Paint

A little more progress.

Partially constructed magazine well. Now it's starting to look like a blaster!

"Firing" mechanism. Positive wire lead to metal retaining collar screw closes the circuit when the trigger is pulled and contact is made with the spring on the LED module. Super bright white LED lights up the barrel and gives a bright flash through the muzzle.
